Manchester United will be without Champions League for the upcoming 2016-17 season

Manchester United will be without Champions League for the upcoming 2016-17 season, but that does not seem to be the main priority for the new manager José Mourinho who has insisted that the club will be looking to win the league title straight away.

There will be a lot of expectations of the Portuguese manager, who is well-known to win league titles quite comfortably. Jose Mourinho is one of the few managers in the world to have won league titles in England, Spain, and Italy. He is known as a great tactician, but even he has recognised the need for signing many new players.

United have already brought in the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while the big-money summer signing is expected to come in the form of Paul Pogba from Juventus. United are in advanced negotiations for the Frenchman, who left the club a few years ago for as little as £ 800,000. Now, though, United have to shell out around 110 million euros in order to bring him back. Mourinho, though, sees Pogba as the addition that will help United ward off the threat from Manchester City, who are now managed by Mourinho’s biggest nemesis Pep Guardiola. Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, United have not won the league title.

Louis van Gaal might rotate his team for the match against Norwich

Louis van Gaal has hinted that he might rotate his team for the game against Norwich City especially with a crucial FA Cup final coming soon.

Indeed, winning the FA Cup will be the only way for the Dutchman to save an otherwise frustrating season.

Manchester United will have to face two away games at Norwich City and West Ham in the space of 4 days before ending their Premier League season against Bournemouth. Louis van Gaal said that he has a fully fit squad at his disposal and that he will make full use of every player during these remaining games of the season.

He added that at this stage of this season it is important to choose players that are still fresh and not showing signs of fatigue. Van Gaal said that playing 2 matches in quick succession is never easy and that he will have to rotate his team if they want to finish the season on a high note.

Louis van Gaal stated that he prefer to stick with a team as much as possible, but sometimes injuries, suspensions, and fatigue force you to make changes to your team. He said that he had the same policy in every club he has managed, but it is a bit difficult to do the same in the Premier League given that they play more matches in a short period of time. MANCHESTER UNITED IN A MUST-WIN MATCH AGAINST EVERTON

Following the victory in the Manchester derby, the hopes of Manchester United has been raised as the team is just a point away from Champions League qualification.

After the International break, Manchester United resume against Everton in the English Premier league. The match proves to be one of the biggest tests for Louis Van Gaal. The victory against Liverpool, Arsenal and recently Manchester city has transformed the poor run the red Devils started with.

However, with the wins, the results that followed blemished it. After the victory against The Reds, they lost to Southampton. After the win against Arsenal, the red Devils lost again against West Brom. This match against Everton is a must win to keep the UEFA champions league qualification hopes alive.

On the other hand, Everton has been inconsistent this season. The Roberto Martinez led team is just 12 points clear the relegation zone with seven matches to go. The team has put 51 goals past the net but has also conceded a whopping 41 goals due to the troubled defense in place. Read More

At certain times, Louis van Gaal gets bored of Manchester United’s playing style

One of the things that Louis van Gaal has consistently been critiqued is for the methods or playing style that he has been implementing in Old Trafford which essentially consisted on siting back and being defensive with a slow paced rhythm. The vast majority of Manchester United’s results finish in either 1-0 or draws.

It’s been a very long time since Manchester United has claimed an overwhelmingly convincing victory as most of their triumphs are snatched by the minimum amount of goals and even when they do manage to come out on top with the victory, it always seems like United struggle even in their triumphs.

Louis van Gaal has recently stated that there are certain occasions when even he felt bored watching his team play on a few matches as the Dutch coach told the media: “There are matches that I have enjoyed and there are also matches where I’m very bored or angry because we are not disorganizing our opponent’s defence but that is football. At this moment we have a lack of creativity and you can see that but they have done it played well in the past so they can do it.”

For a club that routinely spends millions of pounds in upgrading their team and signing top class players, playing with a such a defensive and fairly dull style is something that has disappointed the supporters of the Premier League club as they want to see the players come to life in every single match and show that they are indeed worthy of snatching a top spot in the English league. Louis van Gaal is certain that his pre-season will help Manchester United

Now that all the major European leagues from around the world have reached their conclusion, clubs are getting ready by upgrading their respective squads. There are some players which are taking a break while others have already gotten back to the pitch.

Manuel Pellegrini is preparing his squad by doing a pre-season tour with his squad in United States. Manchester United on the other hand has a fairly busier and adventurous pre-season as Louis van Gaal and his team has to play games in San Francisco, Seattle as well as compete in the International Champions Cup.

While Manchester City will mostly be facing clubs in the United States, Louis van Gaal and his squad have a much more diverse set of opponents which includes teams such as: Club America, San Jose Earthquakes, Barcelona and even PSG. All of these matches are expected to take place between June and July of the ongoing year.

Manchester United’s Louis van Gaal told reporters some of the differences between the previous pre-season and this current one and the Dutch coach said: “When you see our pre-season last year in the United States of America, we won everything playing against big, top clubs, and then we had to play our first match against Swansea City and we lost. That cannot happen next year season.’’ Read More

Louis Van Gaal says Angel may leave Club

Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal says that he cannot completely rule out the possibility of Angel Di Maria leaving the club in the summer.

The club’s record signing is reportedly unhappy – along with his girlfriend – to live in Manchester. His form has dipped considerably compared to his initial few months at United. After having an attempted burglary incident at his home a few weeks ago, di Maria has been living at a hotel. All these situations have not been ideal for him and this could leave the Argentine demanding an exit in the summer.

Given that he is the club’s most valuable player, United are unlikely to allow him to leave easily. Van Gaal, though, concedes that an unhappy player will not be of much use to him. The 27-year-old has contributed only three assists in his last 10 appearances, while he is currently serving a suspension received as a result of the direct red card in the 2-1 defeat against Arsenal. Van Gaal says that the attitude by the player since the red card has been excellent and he is hoping for better performances in the future. Van Gaal also has to deal with poor performances of another big-name signing in the form of Radamel Falcao. Read More

Louis van Gaal faces huge Criticism

Louis van Gaal has faced a lot of criticism at Manchester United for using a 3-5-2 system when it is clearly evident over the last six months that the players are comfortable playing with four at the back.

United had secured some excellent results when playing with the regular system with four defenders. Despite this, Van Gaal has tried to go for this unique formation whenever he has had the opportunity. The controversial system was once again back in the headlines after United lost 1-0 to their top four rivals Southampton at Old Trafford. Read More

Daley Blind to continue play, says Louis

Louis van Gaal has dismissed suggestions that midfielder Daley Blind will be sidelined for six months. The Dutch international recently suffered a major injury while on international duty. It is yet another problem for Van Gaal, who has had to deal with a sea of injury troubles since the start of the season. Since his arrival to United, the Dutchman has never had a fully fit squad to choose from. It has been mentioned as one of the reasons for the club’s poor showing this campaign. In recent weeks, though, the injury situation appeared to finally come good with a number of players like Michael Carrick returning to action.

The latest international break has wreaked havoc into the United team with as much as three new players likely to miss the upcoming matches for the club. David de Gea and Michael Carrick are major injury worries for the weekend’s match against Arsenal, while Daley Blind is definitely ruled out.

Dutch national team boss Guus Hiddink said thatBlind was likely to be sidelined for around six weeks after injuring his ligaments. United’s official Twitter account made an error and quoted the recovery time as six months much to the shock of United fans.Van Gaal has cleared those statements by confirming that Blind is likely to return before the start of 2015.

“[Blind] is not ready, he has a brace on his knee. It’ll be 10 days’ rest, then we’ll have another scan and say more about his injury. It’s not as bad as the doctors thought after the match, but it shall be a long story, I believe, but not six months or something like that.We have to wait for tomorrow’s training session to decide if [some players] are back.My philosophy is that you have to train at least one week with the squad, better two,” said Van Gaal.
