Ander Herreraexplains what led to his departure from Manchester United to Paris Saint Germain. He has recently said that he deserved more attention from the club. He was transferred to United in 2014 from Athletic Club for £32 million. He has played 189 matches during his five-year stay at United. He was unable to lift the Premier League title during his stay but was the part of the squad which won Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
In the 2018–2019 season, he was a regular in the club and his contract was to expire in that year. He was told to wait for the new extension but when the time came, he was given to in free transfer. In the free transfer window, he was taken up by PSG. He has now revealed that he was left out and in the final year in the club, he was left without any choice. He was treated like a spare part by the club.
Andy Cole, the former Manchester United player, feels that United should bring striker who haves exceptional ability to control the ball and score for the club. Marcus Rashford is the current top goalscorer of United but he will need a competitor and a supporter for the club to win against the stronger clubs of Liverpool and Manchester City.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has failed to replace Romelu Lukaku who transferred to Inter Milan in the summer window. With the injury of Marcus Rashford, United was forced to take Odion Ighalo to the team on loan. Solskjaer should focus on developing the attacking side of the team.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been impressed with the displays from Odion Ighalo since joining the club during the January transfer window. The Nigerian made the loan move from Shanghai Shenhua on deadline day and he has since proved a quality signing with three goals scored in all competitions.
Two of those goals came during the 3-0 win over Derby County in the FA Cup fifth round and speaking after that game, Solskjaer was full of praise for the former Watford man. The Norwegian added that the marksman could earn a permanent transfer in four months’ time, suppose he is able to perform consistently.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher feels that Manchester United could miss out on European football altogether based on the current run of form in the Premier League. The Red Devils are placed 14th on the table after the opening nine matches and they are already seven points adrift of the Champions League places.
Speaking on Friday Night Football, Carragher said that the Red Devils have looked out of sorts this term and he does not see them making the push for the top four. He added that Leicester City have a good chance of breaching the top six of the Premier League and that could meant that the Red Devils may miss out on European football altogether.
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is positive about the return of Mohamed Salah ahead of the Premier League clash against Manchester United on October 20. The Egypt international sustained an ankle knock from a late challenge from Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury at the weekend and he was substituted before the final whistle.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Van Dijk has said that his teammate has not suffered any serious injury and he has plenty of time to recover ahead of the Red Devils clash, he told: “I think he should be not too bad. The good thing he has plenty of time to recover. He’ll probably get a time to recover as well. ‘So I’m not concerned that he’s not going to be ready for United away.”
Liverpool legend Steve Nicolas has said that Jesse Lingard has been lucky to start for Manchester United, given his struggles during the calendar year. The England international has contributed just one goal since the start of 2019 and that came against Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round last season.
Speaking on ESPN FC, Nicol said that the recent criticism has been warranted for Lingard, given he has barely made any impact, he told: “I think so [recent criticism is warranted. You described him as an attacking midfielder – I would suggest he needs another title if all he’s going to produce is one goal and no assists. I think it’s a little fortunate that he’s gone under the radar a little because of all the problems that they’ve had at United over the last two, three, four seasons. They’ve brought in players that they thought would score goals and assist.” Read More
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he is prepared to offer midfielder Paul Pogba with a new challenge at the club. Earlier last month, the France international suggested that he would prefer a fresh challenge elsewhere and reports have since associated him with a potential departure from Old Trafford.
Real Madrid and Juventus have been regarded as potential contenders to land his signature but so far, neither club has made a formal approach to land his signature. Speaking to reporters, Solskjaer said that he has not been upset by the comments made by Pogba and he is prepared to give him a new challenge at the club itself.
BBC Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas has said that Manchester United have been sucked into a vacuum of negativity after suffering a sixth defeat from the past eight matches. The Red Devils appeared to have turned the corner under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this year, but things have gone wrong over the past few weeks, where their performances have been pretty average.
One of those came against Everton at Goodison Park, where they were thoroughly beaten by a 4-0 scoreline and shortly after the game, Jenas has described that the club have been submerged under the sense of negativity, which was present during Jose Mourinho’s time at the club, he penned on BBC Sport: “Everyone was guilty. Even Marcus Rashford, who has got one of the best attitudes of anyone at the club, got sucked in by what I would describe as a vacuum of negativity.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it very clear that he is going to do everything possible to turn United’s fortunes next summer and won’t shy away from any difficult calls if they are necessary for the betterment of the team in the long run.
Most of the Manchester United fans and also some pundits are of the opinion that the Red Devils have been very soft with regard to how they have gone about handling the contracts of the players. Read More
The father of Antonio Valencia has said that the Ecuador international is expected to part ways with Manchester United when the current campaign comes to a close. The 33-year-old has been one of the club’s most consistent performers over the past decade but he has failed to replicate the same level of showing this term due to injuries and poor form.
Speaking to Ecuadorian newspaper El Universo, Valencia’s father confirmed that the defence is set to end his association with the Red Devils in the summer with the club having no plans of renewing his deal beyond the current season. He added that the right-sided defender could yet remain in the Premier League with Arsenal and West Ham United probable contenders to sign him.
