Following the victory in the Manchester derby, the hopes of Manchester United has been raised as the team is just a point away from Champions League qualification.
After the International break, Manchester United resume against Everton in the English Premier league. The match proves to be one of the biggest tests for Louis Van Gaal. The victory against Liverpool, Arsenal and recently Manchester city has transformed the poor run the red Devils started with.
However, with the wins, the results that followed blemished it. After the victory against The Reds, they lost to Southampton. After the win against Arsenal, the red Devils lost again against West Brom. This match against Everton is a must win to keep the UEFA champions league qualification hopes alive.
On the other hand, Everton has been inconsistent this season. The Roberto Martinez led team is just 12 points clear the relegation zone with seven matches to go. The team has put 51 goals past the net but has also conceded a whopping 41 goals due to the troubled defense in place. Continue reading MANCHESTER UNITED IN A MUST-WIN MATCH AGAINST EVERTON
Leicester City has reportedly re-signed in Andy King this October. The talented midfielder is on a 4-year contract with the club which continues till the year 2018.
It was a remarkable birthday celebration for King who had an unforgettable 26th birthday signing renewal agreement with the premier English football club.
The Wales star came to East Midlands right from the academy in the year 2006. He has made 283 1st team-appearances & scored 54 goals during his tenure till now. Andy’s previous contract is about to terminate by the termination of coming season- however Leicester has announced about contract extension this Wednesday given the stellar potential of the player.
King is delighted to maintain his pace in his old club and has even expressed this desire to stick to Leicester till his last playing days.
“I am completely buzzing”, said an excited Andy while speaking on the official site of his club. “To reach so far by now with this club & to be able to take part in Premier League is like dream coming true for me. To be capable of committing my future here & for my club to show this much of confidence in my play is a huge boost – thus I am just looking forward to shoot on now.”
“I have always played for this club post my academy years & it is looking more & more as if they are the sole squad that I would ever score for”, he continued with deep passion and commitment for Leicester. “I would really love it in case that goes the case.”
“I have always said that right from my first debut in 2007 against Wolves, the fans have always been really amazing with me-thus, a huge Thank You on my part for them. They have been a great support all through my career & I am hopeful for such a similar fate so on.”
Luis Nani completed his return to Sporting Lisbon as the Portuguese winger was used as bait in order to lure in Marcos Rojo into Manchester United. Rojo signed a 5 year long contract with Manchester United meanwhile Nani will only be performing with Sporting Lisbon on a season long loan deal.
There is a rather surprising twist to this deal as Nani is only playing with Lisbon during one season in the few months that he performs with the Portuguese, his wages will still be paid by Manchester United. Nani is going to be paid around $8 million in wages to perform for another club; this is a sign of just how much Louis van Gaal wanted to sign Marcos Rojo.
After everything was completed United had to pay €16 million in transfer fee to secure the services of Marcos Rojo as well as having to continue paying Luis Nani his normal wages even though he is performing for a different club.
Rojo is a versatile defender who is capable of performing in the left-back position and in the heart of the defence as a centre-back. This is great news for Louis van Gaal and Manchester United as they have to find a back-up option for Luke Shaw who is out injured for one month.
Luke Shaw missed out of Manchester United’s opening match of the season due to a hamstring injury but the young defender is not expected to rejoin the squad for a few more weeks as he has been struggling with fitness ever since the 2014 World Cup came to an end.
Facing defeat in the opening match of the season and losing one of their most promising signings of the transfer window is not the way that Louis van Gaal wanted to start the season but the Dutchman has a chance of recovering from the early setbacks and kickoff his charge for the league title.
David Moyes is confident that his summer transfer targets will still be interested in signing for Manchester United even if they are unable of getting into Champions League or the Europa League.
‘’My focus is on getting a side together to get back in the Champions League. We’re looking to spend the right money on players who are available and it’s not anything to do with Champions League. Any players we’ve quietly discussed it with are more than happy to join Manchester United. They know it’s not a long-term thing’’ Moyes said. Continue reading SUMMER TARGETS FOR UNITED
David Moyes, the new boss at Old Trafford is all ready to pay a whooping 75,000 pounds a week to the eighteen year old Luke Shaw to bring him on board. This sum is by far the highest as compared to Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Man United’s Adnan Januzaj, where 60,000 pounds a week deal was signed by both of them as teens. With this, Southampton lad almost quadrupled his Southampton wages.
Shaw made his Debut in England on Wednesday, while the Saints seem ready as well to open talk to bring him on the team. Last July, David signed his 5 year contract, which was his first professional one. Besides United, Shaw was also demanded by Manchester City and Chelsea. Leaving back all, United seems all determined to grab the defender no matter what it takes.
Shaw however is an ardent fan of Chelsea since his folks hail from a place close to Surrey where the Chelsea team trains. It was however reported that Moyes still believes that they are in the top of the list of clubs who can grab Shaw.
Jose Mourinho, Chelsea’s manager at the moment seems pretty unwilling to match the sky high quote as given by the Saints. However, Moyes is ready to gamble with Shaw right now, dishing out the staggering amount to bag the hottest young sensation English football has seen in some time. Shaw seems to be a perfect fit for the new United squad Moyes plans to field in the next season.
Old Trafford of late signed an extended contract with Wayne Rooney shedding out a whopping 300,000 pounds a week, while Juan Mara was captured from Chelsea for a staggering 37 million pounds, which is a club record.
Manchester United are in danger of missing out on Champions League football for next season, which could create severe problems for the club on the financial front.
However, Chief Executive Ed Woodward has dismissed such speculation by saying that United will be fine even without the Premier European competition. He also added that the club plan to sign as much as four players in the summer, as they target about rebuilding the squad, which has been exposed by David Moyes taking over the club. This season has not been less than a disaster for Manchester United. They have been out of top 5 in the League table right from the start of the season and their chances of making it to the Champions League are not very good.
Now, adding insult to injury, the boss David Moyes has made the statement that if the team doesn’t finish in top 4 in the league table in the ongoing season, Wayne Rooney might refuse to renew his contract at Old Trafford.
Now, that’s something which would have left most of the Manchester United fans worried. The last thing that they would want after such a horrifying season is the departure of one of their top players.
Rooney’s desire of leaving United is not new. He was reported to have requested for transfer at the end of the last season, but, Moyes managed to convince him somehow to stay.
But, now, with the Red Devils struggling for even a Champions League place, one should not be surprised if this proves to be Rooney’s last season at Old Trafford.
It is believed that the Manchester United management wants to start the talks of contract renewal with Rooney, but, the star striker doesn’t want so right now.
Rooney probably would like to wait till the end of this season before reaching any conclusion.
There would be plenty of clubs looking to sign Rooney if he decides to make his way away from Old Trafford. He is one of the top strikers going around and he still has plenty of football left in him.
Even at the start of this season, Chelsea FC had placed a bid of about 30 million Pounds for him, but, that had been rejected by Manchester United.
Manchester United have the opportunity to go very close to sealing qualification to the last 16 stage of the Champions league, but they could only manage a draw with bottom club Real Sociedad on Tuesday night. The 0-0 draw was a disappointing result for David Moyes and his men especially considering that they were in recent form in recent weeks. After the encounter, Moyes said that he is disappointed to have only taken a point from a match that appeared to present three before the start.
Summer signing Marouane Fellaini, who started in midfield along with Ryan Giggs, was sent off after a second yellow card. Robin van Persie also missed a penalty, which would have given them the lead in the match. Striker Javier Hernandez, who was given a rare start by Moyes, missed a glorious opportunity from 6 yards out. Despite this draw, United still remain top of their group with eight points compared to the seven of Bayern Leverkusen. Still, it was a great opportunity for United to assert their superiority in the group.
Their next European match will be against the Germans followed by the final group match against Shakhtar Donetsk, who are still in with a shout to qualify for the knockout stages.
“It shouldn’t have been a draw, it should have been a victory, we played well enough to win the game, made a lot of chances, and we missed a penalty as well. When you get opportunities you want to take them. Those opportunities tonight would have made sure we were well clear at the top of the group, but we’re still in a good position. We go to Leverkusen next and then we play Shakhtar Donetsk at home, so hopefully in those two games we’ll make sure we qualify,” said Moyes after the match.
Manchester United have just confirmed that they rejected a second bid for striker Wayne Rooney from Chelsea. This second offer is believed to have been around £ 30 million after the initial offer of around £ 30 million was rejected. Even though United have categorically stated that the 27-year-old England international remains not for sale at any price, midfielder Darren Fletcher has said that he fears the departure of the former Everton star. Rooney has been at Manchester United for the last nine years and he is very close to beating the goalscoring record held by Bobby Charlton.
However, the striker is thought to be extremely angry at the comments made by David Moyes that he would be a good backup to Robin van Persie should the Dutchman get injured. Rooney has scored close to 200 goals in his United career, and he does not see this as a mark of respect. Mourinho, meanwhile, has been praising Rooney with every opportunity he has had with the press. It the 27-year-old is thought to be contemplating handing a transfer request. Even though Alex Ferguson said at the end of last season that United had received a transfer request for Rooney, this does not seem to have happened.
“You do worry he’ll leave because he’s a fantastic football player, but you leave that to Wayne and the club. I hope he stays because he’s been a fantastic player for Manchester United, and a big part (of their success). In all he’s achieved in the last 9/10 years since I’ve been in the squad, we’ve been in the squad together, so I hope he stays and achieves more things with Manchester United. He (Fabregas) is a fantastic player, we’re always linked with great players,” said Fletcher, who has been out with a long-term injury for almost 2 years.
Former Manchester United midfielder Ray Wilkins has said that new manager David Moyes should win at least a trophy in his first season at the club in order to win over the supporters. Moyes comes as the replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson, who managed to get the club to close to 40 trophies during his 26 years at the club. This includes several league titles and two Champions League titles as well. Moyes, however, starts his United regime as a manager who is yet to prove himself when it comes to winning trophies.
Even though he was in charge of Everton for 11 years, he failed to win major trophies. Even though he cannot be expected to win the league with the club like Everton and their limited financial resources, many expect him to have won at least trophies like the FA Cup and League cup. However, Moyes failed to lead the Everton team to success in this competitions. Further, there is a fear amongst United supporters that Moyes may not be able to replicate the brilliant football given by Ferguson over the years.
Moyes’ Everton team are known for their hard-working abilities, but they’re not the best footballing side in the world. Wilkins is of the opinion that a trophy could change everything for Moyes at Old Trafford.
“Everyone has to understand that there will be new players coming in and players will go out and David will have to put his imprint upon Manchester United. But if he can win a cup this season – or even the Premier League – I think the supporters will say ‘good first season, lets crack on. I wouldn’t say anything derogatory on the Capital One Cup because last year we had some fantastic games in it, but Moyes certainly needs to win a trophy,” said Wilkins.
