CHILEAN JOINS UNITED

Manchester United have secured the signing of the Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez for an undisclosed fee. He becomes the fifth major signing for the club in the summer transfer window. Manchester United have spent heavily on established players like Robin van Persie and Kagawa in the summer transfer window, but they have also made signings for the future in the form of Nick Powell and Angelo Henriquez. The Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed a few weeks ago that the club had come to an agreement with the Mexican club Universidad de Chile over the potential sale of the player.

However, rather than wait for a few seasons in order to allow the player to develop at the Mexican club, the Manchester club have decided to bring in the player and allow him to settle to life in England. Manchester United have been extremely successful in bringing players early from other regions like South America and North America. Angelo Henriquez could become another player of such stature, as it is thought that the club has not parted away with a substantial transfer fee for the player. The 18-year-old has scored 11 goals in 17 games for his Mexican club last season.

“Angelo has made a tremendous impact on the game in his short career so far. His pace is a great asset and he reads the game really well for someone of such a young age. We have a proud record of developing young talent and Angelo fits the profile of a United player – skillful, attacking and someone who plays the game with real flair,” said Sir Alex Ferguson on official website of the club. The player also said that he is extremely delighted at the prospect of being able to join one of the biggest names in world football.
