ANOTHER BIG WIN

Manchester United has defeated Wigan Athletic in a Premier League match played at the DW Stadium on Monday. United won the match by a big margin of 4-0. This was the 17th victory for United in the ongoing Premier League. With this victory, United has maintained its no. 1 status in the Premier League points table.

United has played 21 matches in the league so far out of which it has won 17, lost 3 and the remaining 1 match has finished without any result. Sir Alex Ferguson’s team currently has 52 points. United is 7 points ahead of Manchester City which is at no. 2 in the points table.

The match was played at the home ground of the Wigan team and more than 20,000 people were out there in the Stadium to support the home team, but, the home fans would have been highly disappointed with the end result of the match. Their team was completely outplayed by a very strong Manchester United side.

Javier Hernandez and Robin Van Persie were the stand out performers for United in the match. Both of them scored a couple of goals each and secure yet another victory for United.

United took the lead in the 36th minute of the match. It was Hernandez who scored the opening goal for his team with a great sweep shot from a distance of 6 yards. Just after a few minutes, Robin Van Persie doubled the lead of united by latching on a fine cross from Hernandez.

United got ahead by 3-0 in the 64th minute. Robin Van Persie’s free kick was deflected in the penalty area of Wigan and Hernandez was there to smash the ball home. Just a couple of minutes before the end of the match, Robin Van Persie found the net again and secured the victory of United.

Manchester United’s next match will be a FA Cup encounter against West Ham United on Saturday.
