Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is positive about the return of Mohamed Salah ahead of the Premier League clash against Manchester United on October 20. The Egypt international sustained an ankle knock from a late challenge from Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury at the weekend and he was substituted before the final whistle.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Van Dijk has said that his teammate has not suffered any serious injury and he has plenty of time to recover ahead of the Red Devils clash, he told: “I think he should be not too bad. The good thing he has plenty of time to recover. He’ll probably get a time to recover as well. ‘So I’m not concerned that he’s not going to be ready for United away.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side have lacked the defensive stability from the previous campaign but they have still managed to comfortably build up a lead at the top of the standings. The Merseyside outfit have won each of the opening eight games of the new Premier League campaign and that sees them with an eight-point advantage over second-placed Manchester City, who have already suffered shock defeats to Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers this season.

Next up, the Reds are scheduled to face Manchester United away from home where they don’t have the best of records with just one league triumph since 2014. The Red Devils have managed to secure three draws and two victories during the past five meetings at Old Trafford but they have a tougher task of stopping the Reds this time around with their current run of form.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have made their worst-ever start to a season in the Premier League era and they are currently a staggering 15 points behind the Reds after just eight games. A defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side could potentially see them drop into the relegation zone, should the other results go against them.
